Wall Art

Did a little drywall repair over the window above the landing on the stairs.  Getting the texturing to match the rest of the wall is almost impossible - so I painted a phoenix on the wall over the patch.  Also framed in the curved window.  The wall has a touch of blue, so I used blue tones on the phoenix to help it blend it.

Very Thin Electric Guitar - Maple and Pecan

Just finished another electric guitar.   The body is very thin - approx 1 inch   The top is a highly flamed hard maple with some spalting (dark areas).  The back is soft maple.  The neck is flamed hard maple with 3 stringers down center maple-pecan-maple.   The neck joint goes all the way to the bridge pickup cavity.  The body is chambered which makes the whole instrument very light weight.   The fingerboard and the headpiece are pecan.  The 12th fret has a leaf motif inlay.  There are 22 frets with the neck to body joint at the 21st fret.  It has a double action truss rod and gold hardware.  Hunbucker pickup are 9K and 16K overwound.

Outdoor Bench

Neighbor moved recently and left behind an old outdoor bench.  The wood had all rotted away and the iron work needed a going over and painting.   I painted the iron and replaced all the wood (which was some cheap wood).  The new wood is all pecan, which is very hard.   Sealed and painted the new wood before assembly to ensure that everything was coated.   Turned out well and is very solid.  I'm giving to my son and his family in Houston as soon as I can get it down there.
