8 String Steel Guitar

I've been toying with slide playing for quite a while, so naturally it was time to build something for pure slide. This is my first attempt at a lap Steel Guitar. It is an 8 string model tuned E B D E G# B C# E. I still have a few adjustments to make to the nut/bridge, but it plays. It is made from African Padauk. Paduak is a bright orange/brown when fresh sawed, but darkens with time. I applied a red mahagony stain as part of the finish. The finger board is plexiglass with the fret lines etched on the underside. The abalone dots inlayed into the wood show nicely thru the plexiglass.
